The question frequently asked of James is why write the rugby book?
The answer is simple - demand.
James wrote his book in response to the myriad of questions he receives via social media every week, from both aspiring and established male and female rugby players, seeking to develop a better understanding of the game, to train more sensibly, as well as wanting the inside line on what to do and crucially, how to do it .
Aside from being one of the fittest and strongest players at both International and domestic levels. James’s background is unique, being the only current British Isles International to have played in all four of the leading competitions in World Rugby. The Top 14 in France, for Stade Francais. Super 15 playing for the Highlanders in New Zealand. Japan’s Top League for the Ricoh Black Rams in Tokyo and the Aviva Premiership for Wasps.
In addition to this cosmopolitan playing experience, James also had the privilege of being coached by some of the World’s most acknowledged coaches, trainers and conditioners. Warren Gatland, Sir Ian McGeehan. Michael Cheika, Jamie Joseph, Shaun Edwards and now Eddie Jones.
It is this personal, broad international insight, based on 12 years of experience and 65 caps for his country, that people want to tap into.
So rather than respond individually, he decided to write a book, so everyone could share.
Before launching the book we sent copies to many leading figures in the game, journalists, leading trade magazines and respected bloggers, to get a feel as of what they thought.
The response was pretty humbling with Stephen Jones, current Rugby Journalist of the Year and Chief Rugby Correspondent for the Sunday Times, calling the book a “Classic”.
Great way to show your support for the Wasps!!
